Just in: Makara Cloud Application Platform, Developer Edition

I am very excited to report that, after months of under-the-radar development, today we are launching the Makara Cloud Application Platform, Developer Beta today. This software enables developers to take their existing Tomcat, JBoss or PHP applications and get them running in minutes on a long list of supported cloud environments: public or private, external or internal. Best of all, hairy details such as clustering, management, and monitoring are already built-in. Developers today want to deploy, scale and manage their applications without being held up by provisioning and deployment.

Makara and VMware Join Forces for a Fully Self-Service Experience on vCloud Express

Today, VMware announced its partnership with Makara for vCloud Express, making us the first application deployment and management solution to be available on a vCloud implementation.  Enterprises that use the combined solution can now offer their application teams a self-service experience in which they can deploy and manage their applications in the cloud without changing the applications or middleware.

PHP needs to embrace operational efficiency to fully realize its potential

Last month, I was fortunate enough to attend the International PHP Conference 2009 in Karlsruhe, Germany.  I was invited to present on our open-source project, and wound up joining a cloud computing panel with a number of luminaries in the field.  After these talks I was able to walk around and speak with many of the conference-goers candidly outside of the session environment.

Making the Open Cloud Easy

Great post by SugarCRM's Martin Schneider discussing how SugarCRM and Makara can work together to "make the open cloud easy".

We think Martin's take is dead on:

Makara is Celebrating "NO"

Today we want to take the time to celebrate "NO".  "NO" can be a very beautiful word, especially when it refers to:

Makara goes to ZendCon

We’re here at ZendCon talking to enterprise PHP developers about deploying applications in the cloud. We’ll keep you posted on how the show is going, but if you’re in San Jose, drop by the Convention Center and see us! We’re giving demos in between sessions.

Somebody even brought in a boatload of those mini Snickers bars, and we want to share. We’re booth 320.
